From Behind the Chair to Community Care: Where Hair, Education & Community Meet

I’ve always had a natural connection to hair. What started as doing hair for fun grew into a 10 year career behind the chair. But over time, I realized this work was about more than styling.

It was about the gaps.

The lack of education.

The inconsistency in care.

The frustration many people experience when it comes to managing natural hair.

And I knew I wanted to be part of the solution.

Today, that vision lives through Healthy Curl Collective, where I provide a natural hair care spa experience in Richmond, VA designed to go beyond traditional salon services. This isn’t just about getting your hair done, it’s about restoring the health of your scalp, the integrity of your hair, and your overall relationship with your curls.

Each service is rooted in hydration, scalp therapy, and intentional care, while also creating space for relaxation. It’s a moment to reset, physically and mentally, while receiving guidance you can actually take home and apply.

Because healthy hair shouldn’t only exist on appointment days.

Alongside this work, I created Curls & Caregivers, a program focused on natural hair literacy and skill-building for youth and caregivers. Through workshops and hands-on education, we break down the basics of textured hair care. From cleansing and detangling to product use and styling, in a way that feels approachable and culturally grounded.

For many families, hair care has been a source of stress, confusion, or even disconnection. My goal is to shift that experience into one of confidence, bonding, and understanding.

Whether you’re:

  • A client looking for consistent, healthy hair care

  • A parent or caregiver learning how to manage your child’s hair

  • Or an organization supporting youth in your community

This work is about creating access to knowledge, to care, and to experiences that honor natural hair in its healthiest state.

Here in Richmond, VA, we’re building more than a service.

We’re building a standard.

Where natural hair care is intentional, educational, and deeply rooted in community.
